The Pittsburgh Penguins have resigned veteran forward Ryan Craig to a one year deal. The deal is a two-way contract and will pay Craig $525,000 at the NHL level, according to the team.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound forward appeared in six games with the Penguins last season and spent the majority of the season with the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.
Craig was second on the team with 48 points (19G-29A) in 71 games. He led all forwards with 7 points in the playoffs.
Craig was an excellent leader (captain) in Wilkes Barre which is why he was tabbed last month as a top priority for Assistant GM Jason Botterill.
Craig has appeared in 190 career NHL games, collecting 32 goals and 31 assists. He's not a strong candidate to make the big club out of camp but a lot of that depends on who returns.
