Insider Only Starling Marte hitting .358 since August 1

  • Starling Marte continues to be a difference maker down the stretch for the Pirates. Marte extended his hitting streak to 9 games tonight, going 2-3 with a double, run scored and walk. It was his fourth straight multi-hit game. Marte hit his 25th double of the season in the fifth inning, a hit that was initially ruled a home run. The video review showed that a fan reached over the fence and touched the ball. Marte was awarded a double instead of a homer. He is batting .369 over the last month (August 9 – September 9) and .358 since August 1 (44-123)
