12:00 p.m. – Red Wings GM Ken Holland tells the Detroit News that he won’t be making a move for a goaltender before the deadline. The Red Wings have an offer on the table for Senators forward Chris Neil believed to be a 2nd round pick. Pittsburgh, Edmonton, and San Jose also have offers on the table for Neil. Ian Laperriere and Gary Roberts are also on the Wings radar.
12:08 p.m. – There continues to be rumors¬†that the Bruins¬†are now focusing on Leafs defenseman Tomas Kaberle and Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris. They remain in pursuit of Chris Pronger but don’t want to move Phil Kessel for him.
12:13 p.m. – Sean Avery is on re-entry waivers. Nobody on the Rangers is on waivers right now, there might be a trade in the works. The Rangers are believed to be working on a couple deals right now.
12:20 p.m. – Bill Guerin is still a New York Islander after a deal with the Washington Capitals fell through yesterday ( cap issues). Penguins are currently not in on him.
12:38 p.m. – Penguins defenseman Philippe Boucher will begin skating in about 7-10 days.
12:59 p.m. – Calgary, Buffalo, Detroit, and Florida have made inquires about Gary Roberts. Carolina in on Mark Recchi. The Blackhawks are considering center Jeff Halpren
1:01 p.m. – Pierre Lebrun of ESPN reports, the Penguins have asked about Senators forward Jarkko Ruutu. Lebrun is skeptical that talks will go anywhere. The Penguins remain in on Senators forward Chris Neil.
1:08 p.m. – The Pittsburgh Penguins have waived forward Bill Thomas. The Penguins are clearing space for a potential trade according to a source.
1:44 p.m. – Sources continue to indicate that Marty St. Louis would be reluctant to waive his NTC to Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh has made a new offer. St. Louis would jump at the chance to join the Rangers.
