Pedro Alvarez is starting to heat up for Triple-A Indianapolis.
Alvarez went 3-for-4 with a home run, RBI and run scored in the Indians 4-3 victory on Monday night.
Alvarez has hits in four straight games, RBI’s in three straight and has homered in consecutive games.
Alvarez is batting .467 (7-for-15) with 2 home runs and 4 RBI’s in his last four games.
It will be interesting to see if Alvarez will be able to continue to build on his recent hot streak. The Pirates are adament that they won’t bring Alvarez back up until they are confident he can make a significant impact at the MLB level.
Notes: Steve Pearce who homered in 3 of his first 4 games with Indy, was 0-for-4 at the plate tonight. In five games, Pearce has 3 home runs and 5 RBI’s. Pearce is under consideration for a callup on Friday….
Shortstop Ronny Cedeno who will be recalled for the Pirates upcoming series against St. Louis, went 1-for-3 with an RBI triple in the win….
