Pittsburgh Pirates top prospect Pedro Alvarez is starting to heat up and his time in the minors is believed to be nearing an end.
On the same day Jose Tabata was called up, Alvarez was a single shy of hitting for the cycle Wednesday afternoon going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI’s.
Thursday night against Pawtuket, Alvarez picked up where he left off, adding two more hits, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and a walk in the Indians 2-1 win.
In his last 10 games Alvarez is batting over .400 (16-for-36).
