Pittsburgh Penguins forward Petr Sykora was getting treatment on his right foot/Ankle this morning at Mellon Arena and he is being regarded as doubtful for Friday’s game.
Sykora suffered the injury in the second period of Tuesday night’s game, blocking a shot that went off of his right foot.
Sykora returned to the lineup Tuesday night, after being scratched for 14 straight games.
Game 6 was likely Sykora’s last game in a Penguins uniform. The impending free agent has a multi-year offer from Metallurg Magnitogorski of the KHL.
Currently there isn’t much interest from both sides regarding on a possible return for next season as Sykora has struggled to play in Dan Bylsma up-tempo system.
If Sykora misses Game 7 Pittsburgh will consider two options;
Putting Miroslav Satan into the lineup or dressing seven defensemen. Dressing seven defensemen will be a option that Dan Bylsma will seriously consider.
It will give Pittsburgh the opportunity to get Sidney Crosby on the ice more.
Pittsburgh held an optional practice today and will be on the ice Thursday morning for a full squad practice before departing for Detroit.
