NHL Trade Deadline: D-MEN ON THE MOVE
Just days after acquiring Jordan Leopold, the St. Louis Blues continue to bolster their defense, acquiring Calgary Flames defenseman Jay Bouwmeester, the biggest chip on the trade market.
The Flames will receive a 2013 first round pick, defenseman Mark Cundari and goaltender Reta Berra. If the Blues miss the playoffs, the first round pick will be deferred to the 2014 draft.
Also traded within the past couple minutes was Buffalo Sabres defenseman Robyn Regehr who was shipped to the Los Angeles Kings, in-exchange for two second round picks. The Penguins acquiring Douglas Murray for two second rounders set the going rate for rental defensemen.
The next notable name to go is going to be Ryane Clowe. The top contenders for his services are the Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota Wild, and New York Rangers. The Canadiens and Bruins have also been in the mix.
