The Pittsburgh Penguins and Sidney Crosby have agreed to an 5 year extension worth 45 million. The deal will pay Crosby 8.7 million per season and will go in effect following the 07-08 season. Crosby the leagues leading scorer and M.V.P. was believed to be willing to take less money but how can you blame him not wanting to make what he can. Crosby is worth every penny when you consider a player such as Scott Gomez is making over 7 million per season. The max deal Crosby could have signed was 10.06 million per season and looks like he gave the Penguins a minor discount. It remains to be seen if the pressure from the NHLPA got to Sidney Crosby. Crosby said last week he is part of a union and he was going to take that into consideration. Regardless its a great day for hockey and the city of Pittsburgh
