DUMOULIN, HARRINGTON RECALLED
No salary cap in the playoffs means the Penguins will be able to dress a full roster in the post-season, no matter what. With the status of Christian Ehrhoff and Derrick Pouliot unclear for the start of round 1 on Thursday, though, the Penguins expect Derrick Pouliot to be ready, defensemen Brian Dumoulin and Scott Harrington have earned the first callups from Wilkes Barre.
The Penguins coaches all season have favored Scott Harrington, who had more bad moments than good in the 10 NHL games he appeared in with the big club, but Dumoulin who has the lower ceiling, has been the better defenseman in Wilkes Barre all season and if the team would have been able to call up one of the two in recent weeks, management favored Dumoulin.
Dumoulin leads all WBS defenseman with 33 points in 62 games. His plus-25 rating is 4th in the AHL.
The Penguins for now have made no forward callups.
The team is off today and practices tomorrow.
