Buffalo @ Pittsburgh Live Game notes
2nd period: Pittsburgh scores four unanswered behind three goals from Sidney Crosby (35, 36, 37) to take a 5-3 lead after 40 minutes.
Jordan Staal also scored, snapping a 12 game goal scoring drought.
1st period: Pittsburgh trails 2-1 at the end of one period. Mark Letestu scored 47 seconds into the game as Pittsburgh is tied for first in the league with 17 goals scored in the first five minutes of a game.
Buffalo quickly responded, scoring twice in 48 seconds to take a 2-1 lead.
A few notes: Forward Ruslan Fedotenko remains a liability for Pittsburgh defensively. Fedotenko who has a team worst plus/minus rating of minus-10, was out of position in the neutral zone that led to Thomas Vanek having a free lane down the right side, (what would be Fedotenko’s left side) beating Marc Andre Fleury for a Sabres 2-1 lead.
Fedotenko who was playing left wing, roamed over to the puck carrier in the neutral zone {Derek Roy} on the right side, leaving the entire left side of the ice open as Derek Roy found Vanek wide open with a cross-ice pass.
**Meanwhile, Jay McKee was a late scratch after participating in warmups and trade speculation was buzzing that McKee was on his way to Chicago in a three player trade.
However, teams officials are saying McKee was a late scratch due to a coaches decision.
