With only two healthy tight ends for Sunday’s game against Cincinnati Bengals, the Steelers this week have mulled the possibility of adding 2009 5th round pick Frank Summers to the active roster in the wake of having an extra blocking back.
Offensive Coordinator Bruce Arians told Summers early this week to prepare for the possibility.
Although there are no strong indications that Summers will get the call following Saturday’s walk through, Summers agent is hopeful to see his client get back on the active roster and into game action even if it’s just for one week.
“Waiting to hear. We are hoping, ” Craig Schaeffer the agent for Summers told Inside Pittsburgh Sports.
On the injury front, the Steelers have ruled out Aaron Smith, Heath Miller and Steve McClendon.
The good news on the injury front for Pittsburgh is that Flozell Adams is expected to start. Adams participated fully on Friday and is listed as probable.
Isaac Redman and Troy Polamalu are also listed as probable.
