GAME 2 POST-GAME BUZZ
Sidney Crosby (6) had a hat trick leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semi-finals to take a 2-0 series lead.
Brenden Morrow (1) also scored the Penguins, while Tomas Vokoun made 19 saves to improve to 4-0 in the post-season.
The Penguins outshot the Senators 42-22 but the Senators never went away and played a pesky game in the loss.
Star power prevailed in this one and Pittsburgh got a dominant night from Crosby who scored twice in the first period then netted his third goal of the game, a 1:15 into the second period with a blast from the left circle on the power play. It was Crosby’s second career playoff hat trick and he picked up career post-season points 100, 101 and 102 in the victory.
The highlight of Crosby’s night was his first goal of the game, 3:16 into the game when he undressed Erik Karlsson at the blueline for a sensational goal beating Craig Anderson 5-hole. Crosby had the upper hand on Anderson all night as later in the first period he caught Anderson leaning who thought Crosby was going to make a cross-ice pass to make it 2-1 Penguins with 3:53 left in the period.
Anderson’s night would come to an end when Crosby made it 3-1 at 1:15 of the second period.
Game 3 is Sunday night.
