Veteran Wideout endorses Dixon
Is a quarterback controversy emerging in Pittsburgh? Although the coaching staff has leaned heavily in Byron Leftwich’s direction, head coach Mike Tomlin has yet to officially anoint Leftwich the teams starter.
Dixon has barely taken any reps with the 1st team but there has been a few prominent veterans who are endorsing Dixon getting more snaps.
The latest was Hines Ward who today endorsed the notion of Dixon seeing more time with the first team.
Dixon starred in the Steelers 23-7 win, going 6 of 7 for 128 yards and 1 touchdown. Dixon’s athletic ability was on stage in the win.
As the Steelers return to practice this afternoon, there appears to be a little bit of movement from the players who would like to see Dixon be given an opportunity to show himself.
More Notes
*Ben Roethlisberger said today that he hopes to play Saturday against the New York Giants but has not been given any promises by head coach Mike Tomlin.
*First team reps are expected to increase this week for Maurkice Pouncey. Also, according to a close associate of Pouncey’s I spoke with this weekend, the rookie lineman feels much more comfortable at the center position.
Pouncey saw first teams at center in Saturday’s preseason opener in place of Justin Hartwig.
