The Pittsburgh Steelers have retained the rights to QB Dennis Dixon. A league source tells Inside Pittsburgh Sports.com that Dixon has received an “existing round tender” from the Steelers.
The 3rd year pro is scheduled to be a restricted free agent this off-season.
The Steelers currently have Ben Roethlisberger, Byron Leftwich and Charlie Batch under contract at the quarterback position for next season.
Dixon who the Steelers are high on, has value around the league and could become a potential trade candidate down the road. Dixon figures to go into training camp as the No. 3 quarterback and few teams could come calling.
