Jeff Locke (9-5, 3.23 ERA) returned to the mound Saturday night, taking the loss in a 5-0 Pirates defeat. Overall it was an okay outing for Locke. He allowed 3 hits and 2 earned runs but lasted just 5 innings, throwing 53 strikes on 91 pitches. Whats remains very considering with Locke is the control problems. Locke walked four batters and leads the National lead with 78 walks, a stat you don’t want to lead the league in. Locke is the type of pitcher where his game is dictated by control as he doesn’t have swing and miss stuff. He is showing no signs of correcting those issues as Locke has walked 31 batters in his last 9 starts. |
