Colon works with first team: The Steelers made a few moves on the depth chart today. Right Tackle Willie Colon worked with the first team while Max Starks worked with the second team, getting reps at right and left tackle. This was already planned before training camp began but from what i’ve been told, the Steelers coaches were disappointed in how Max Starks played Sunday night. Overall the coaching staff was not happy with the running game and a few more changes may be coming this week. Center Sean Mahan could get some reps with the first team but he hasn’t returned from his excused absence. He is expected back by Wednesday. Santonio Holmes is expected to start Saturday night against the Packers.
Running backs: Today, running back Carey Davis got some reps with the first team. According to Steelers Insiders, this week is going to be a make or break week for Kevin Barlow. If he doesn’t improve his practice habits, he will get less carries then he did Sunday Night against the Saints. On the defensive side there were no changes but we should expect Anthony Smith and Bryant McFadden to play with the first team.
Minor injuries: Larry Foote and Alan Faneca sat out practice today. Foote has a sore ankle and Faneca has a sore shoulder. Both are expected back tomorrow. Willie Parker, James Harrison and Lawrence Timmons were also still out of action. At this moment there is no time table for Lawrence Timmons to begin practicing again. Am i the only one who is worried about James Harrison?
