Braves eyeing Paul Maholm?
Rumors have surrounded Pirates pitcher Zach Duke in recent weeks but the team has received interest in pitcher Paul Maholm from the Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Braves made a play for Maholm during the off-season and are believed to be willing to part with 26 year old shortstop Yunel Escobar to land the lefty pitcher.
Escobar is batting .293 with 7 homeruns and 44 RBI’s. Escobar is making a salary of $425,000. Maholm, 27, is 6-4 with a 4.60 era.
The Pirates are seeking another prospect in return but have significant interest in Escobar.
