LATEST PIRATES RUMORS
The Pittsburgh Pirates let Paul Maholm (8-6, 4.09 ERA) walk this past off-season without making much of any attempt to resign him.
Months later do the Pirates have their sights set on Maholm, the team’s first round pick in 2003?
According to a report from ESPNchicago.com, the Pirates are showing interest in Maholm, in addition to the Kansas City Royals.
Maholm has been excellent of late, pitching eight innings of one-run ball in the Cubs 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins today. Maholm allowed 5 hits and 1 run, winning for the fourth time in his last five starts. Maholm is 4-0 with an 0.89 ERA in his past five starts dating back to June 29.
Maholm went 6-14 with a 3.66 ERA for the Pirates last season.
