Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Zach Duke is likely staying put as the trade deadline is less than 5 hours away.
The Pirates have held a number of discussions with the Detroit Tigers over the course of the past 48 hours but the Tigers balked at the Pirates asking price and went in another direction.
Barring an 11th hour offer from the Texas Rangers centered around
top pitching prospect Martin Perez, two top infield prospects, Duke isn’t going anywhere.
Other than the Tigers, the Rangers are only team to hold what has been described as serious talks regarding Duke.
Pittsburgh has demanded Martin Perez in any deal for Duke, along with a top infield prospect.
The Pirates will not trade Paul Maholm as the team has held minimal discussions with teams.
