Sources confirmed today, what we reported last week that the Penguins will shut down forward Max Talbot until after the Olympic break.
Talbot has only been cleared to do off-ice work this week and has a groin/hip related injury similar to what Tyler Kennedy had in November, that nearly kept him out of the lineup for up to four weeks.
Talbot has missed 8 of the Penguins last 9 games.
Meanwhile with the roster freeze just under 28 hours away, everyone was accounted for today in practice expect Talbot (groin) and Bill Guerin who was given a “veteran day” off.
Forward Mark Letestu got a rare practice in with the “big club” and will stay in the lineup tomorrow night against the New York Rangers. Letestu centered Craig Adams and Martin Skoula in practice today.
The D-pairs remained the same today with Kris Letang and Brooks Orpik staying together, while Sergei Gonchar was paired with Mark Eaton.
Dan Bylsma indicated on Tuesday, that he wants to get Brent Johnson a start this week. If it happens, it will be tomorrow night I’m told.
