Polamalu who is being recruited as a safety will visit Pitt this summer
Maika Polamalu (6-0, 205 lbs) of Pottstown PA is the cousin of Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and schools around the country are eyeing Polamalu’s versatility.
Primarily a running back in high school, the junior from Pottstown is being recruited by schools to be a safety, according to Bill Kurelic of ESPN.com.
It’s a position he has not played but will begin the transition this summer.
Polamalu rushed for 1,450 yards (8.9 average) and 20 touchdowns as a junior in 2009. On defense he played outside linebacker, recording 53 tackles and five sacks.
Polamalu has written scholarship offers from Temple, Villanova and Navy but told Kurelic that he will be attending Pitt’s camp this summer and that Pitt is a school of interest.
A pitt official has confirmed that Pitt has scheduled an official visit with Polamalu.
Meanwhile, Polamalu’s Father, Alatoa, played for Penn State and graduated in 1988. At this point, Penn State has not scheduled an official visit with Polamalu.
