SMOKESCREEN ON ADAMS?
Are the Steelers drawn to another dope smoker from Ohio State?
Despite several red flags off the field and testing positive at the combine for marijuana, chatter on Wednesday began to suddenly heat up that the Steelers are serious about taking talented Ohio State OT Mike Adams (6-7, 323 lbs).
The Post-Gazette’s Ed bouchette adds more fuel to the fire today, writing “The Steelers have done a load of research on him {Mike Adams} and have determined there are no character issues, despite his reported positive test for marijuana use.”
Many inside the industry believe it’s a smoke screen coming from the Steelers as there’s a chance Adams will be available at No. 24 and Pittsburgh has interest in moving down, but head coach Mike Tomlin is always enamoured with Ohio State players and while Kevin Colbert rarely takes risk in the first round, he did draft Santonio Holmes when the Steelers knew Holmes use of marijuana could likely pop up again.
The Adams speculation is among the developing stories this afternoon.
