Philippe Boucher and Kris Letang have developed a close relationship off the ice. Will it lead to the Penguins bringing back Boucher next season?
Despite a major difference in age as Philippe Boucher is 35 years old and Kris Letang is 21 years old, the two have become close friends off the ice and often hang out on off days and most importantly Phillipe Boucher has established himself as a mentor to Kris Letang on the ice and in the locker room.
A source tells me Boucher has taking Letang by his wing and the two have hit it off since the time Boucher arrived to the team. Boucher has become more of a locker presence than Daryl Sydor did during his time with the Penguins.
Boucher is currently making $2.5 million per season and it is not without question that the Penguins look to bring Boucher back at a lower price. Ray Shero always likes to have 8 to 9 NHL ready defenseman on his roster.
Bylsma is a fan of Boucher and with him playing a role on Kris Letang’s development, he will get consideration from Penguins management during the off-season.
