Latest Penguins Buzz
The Dallas Stars new regime is growing impatient with 24 year old forward Fabian Brunnstrom and the Stars have made Brunnstrom available for trade.
Pittsburgh which made an offer to Brunnstrom last summer along with a number of teams has significant interest in Brunnstrom, sources tell TIOPS. The Penguins have reached out to the Stars.
Other teams in the mix right now include the Red Wings, Leafs, Canucks and the Minnesota Wild. Wild GM Chuck Fletcher, former assistant GM for the Penguins, was the one who targeted Brunnstrom last summer.
Brunnstrom, (6-1, 205 lbs) had 17 goals and 12 assists in 55 games last season.
Brunnstrom is currently in the second year of a two year deal that pays him $825,000 per season. He will be a restricted free agenct next season.
The Dallas Stars are looking for a young puck-moving defenseman in return that can play at the NHL level.
Pittsburgh doesn’t have much to offer with Alex Goligoski and Kris Letang off limits, but one name to keep an eye on is Ben Lovejoy. Lovejoy is skating again and has been cleared for contact.
He’s a player that could be of interest for Dallas I’m told along with prospect Alex Grant.
