Latest on Matt Cooke, Bill Guerin
Pittsburgh Penguins winger Billy Guerin skated today for the first time since Thursday morning in New York.
Guerin has missed the past three games with back spasms, an injury that has been flaring up from time to time since late January.
Guerin indicated after practice today that the spasms are not a serious concern and that he expects to return to the lineup this week.
The Penguins are off until Thursday.
Meanwhile, winger Matt Cooke did not practice today. I exchanged text messages with Cooke’s agent around 2:30 p.m. and they were told that they would be informed of a decision by 6:00 p.m. tuesday.
They have been told that a decision will be made before the Penguins depart for Carolina on Wednesday.
League sources have indicated Cooke is expected to receive a 3-5 game suspension.
