CKNW Radio in Vancouver is reporting the Penguins have held talks with the Columbus Blue Jackets regarding talented left winger Nikolai Zherdev. This past February the Penguins made an attempt to acquire Zherdev during the trade deadline but the Jackets wouldn’t back of their stance of a 1st round pick being included into the deal. Likely names such as Ryan Malone and Colby Armstrong will be thrown around but the player that makes sense is Eric Christensen. Rumors floating around are the Jackets and Pens did infact lay the framework for a Christensen – Zherdev trade in late February but nothing materialized beyond preliminary talks. From what i have been able to come up with the Blue Jackets are not asking for a 1st round pick anymore but want a established young player in return. stay tuned….
