PITTSBURGH — Forward Arron Asham who last played on January 15th due to a concussion, has been officially cleared for contact and is a full participant in today’s practice.
Asham has been going through individual drills for the past week and has missed the Penguins last 12 games.
Asham last season was a pivotal player for the Penguins in the stretch run and playoffs, and if healthy provides a toughness/grit element on the 4th line that the Penguins current lack.
Asham recovering from a second concussion in less than a year, has had the team scouring the trade market for similar players, most notably Montreal’s Travis Moen.
Asham though is progressing very well and his return to the lineup is much closer than it appeared 7 to 10 days ago.
Asham is skating on the 4th line as an extra with Richard Park, Joe Vitale and Craig Adams.
