*Head coach Dan Bylsma didn’t want to pinpoint an exact timetable for defenseman Zbynek Michalek but Bylsma said today that Michalek will be sidelined for the next 2-4 weeks.
{Zbynek Michalek} has an upper-body injury,” Bylsma said. “It’s tough to estimate, but 2 to 4 weeks on Z”
Michalek who is sidelined with what is believed to be a shoulder injury was evaluated for a second time by team doctors yesterday. It appears the Penguins are in a wait and see mode right now but at this point surgery doesn’t appear to be an option which is good news.
*Defenseman Brooks Orpik did not practice today and remains out with a groin injury. He is day-to-day but is not expected to play tomorrow night against the New York Islanders.
*Forward Arron Asham is no longer regarded as being “out indefinitely”.
Asham skated this morning going through individual workouts with strength and conditioning coach Mike Kadar. He was also at the facility working out and getting treatment on his injured left shoulder that is progressing, which is good news on that front.
Bylsma said today that Asham should return in about 2 weeks.
*Sidney Crosby and Max Talbot didn’t practice today. Both players will be in the lineup tomorrow and were giving maintenance days.
*Dan Bylsma will not go back to Marc Andre Fleury Friday night. Bylsma said today that Brent Johnson will start against the New York Islanders.
