The Pirates and Nate McLouth have agreed to a three year deal worth – $15.75 million. The deal includes a option for a 4th year that could make the contract worth close to $26 million.¬†McLouth will make $3.5 million, which includes a $1.5 million signing bonus in 09. He’ll get $4.5 million in 2010 and $6.5 million in 2011. The club option for 2012 is worth $10.65 million. Buyout is $1.25 million buyout.
The Pittsburgh Pirates and Paul Maholm have agreed to a three year deal (option 4th year). Maholm, 26, made $424,500 last season while going 9-9 with a 3.71 ERA
The Pirates and Adam Laroche avoided arbitration and have agreed to a 1 year – $7.05 million deal.
Zach Duke, 25, and the Pirates avoided arbitration. Duke will make $2.2 million in 09. He made $400,000 last season while going 5-14 with a 4.82 ERA. How rigged is baseball’s salary system.

Colorado, Texas, New York Mets and Atlanta made a play for Snell at the trade deadline. All four teams remain interested.

The market is not very clear for Grabow yet. There has been discussions with St. Louis and previously with Detroit. Mets have been interested for a while. Grabow, 30, will make $2.3 million. He made $1,135,000 last season while posting a 2.84 ERA in 74 appearances.
Pitchers
The Pirates have internally discussed making a pitch for Pitcher Pedro Martinez. As always the Pirates will have to overpay to lure Martinez to Pittsburgh. The Pirates have also remained in talks with pitcher Braden Looper.
Infielders

The Pirates, Reds, Indians,¬†Orioles, Twins and Giants are among five teams to express interest in third baseman Ty Wigginton. Souces indicate Wigginton seeks a three year deal in the range of $16 – $18 million. The Pirates are only willing to offer a two year deal.
