[hide] If you’re going to be cheap like the Pirates always are, you have to hit big when you select in the Top-10, especially at #1. 2021 1st overall pick Henry Davis is the catalyst for the Pirates failure as Davis is bearing Bryan Bullington type draft bust and was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday. The 25-year-old batted .144 with 1 HR, 5 RBIs in 2024 with the Pirates, slashing a line of .144/.242/212 in 104 plate appearances. Davis since being the Top pick in 2021 with the thought of a quick transition to the Majors, has appeared in just 99 games over two seasons with a career average of .199. While Davis was not a consensus #1 pick, some understood the pick at the time because it’s the Pirates. [/hide]
