The Pittsburgh Penguins today placed winger Danton Heinen on waivers. Heinen, 30, carries a $2.25 million cap hit and is in the last year of his contract. Acquired in the Marcus Pettersson trade last February as a throw-in, Heinen has been an odd fit with no sure spot in the top-9.
