SouthPointe — The Pittsburgh Penguins returned to the ice this morning as the team prepares for Sunday’s rematch of the Stanley Cup Final.
A bit of good and bad news on the injury front. Tyler Kennedy was a full participant in practice and will play tomorrow afternoon against Detroit.
Alex Goligoski (upper body) was also a full participant, and was paired with Jay McKee for much of the practice.
Winger Chris Kunitz continues to progress and went through his second straight full practice. He is a lock to play in the next couple days, however, It is unlikely that the coaching staff will clear him for tomorrow’s game.
Nick Johnson will be recalled later this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Max Talbot is sidelined once again. His nagging groin injury is bothering him and he did not practice today. Talbot is doubtful for tomorrow’s game.
Pittsburgh will make at least two callups, (Johnson, unknown player) unless Chris Kunitz makes a surprise return. That is unlikely, considering he was on the 4th line today and it has not even been 4 weeks since the surgery. No need to rush him, even though he has deemed himself ready to go.
Chris Conner, Tim Wallace and Mark Letestu are believed to be under consideration.
