Team is looking to move up 5-to-6 spots
The Pittsburgh Penguins are actively trying to move up into the middle of the first round, league sources tell Inside Pittsburgh Sports.
The team has held discussions with the St. Louis Blues who own the No. 14 selection and the Florida Panthers who are actively shopping the No. 15 selection.
Discussions have been more serious with the Florida Panthers. Edmonton and Chicago are also believed to be in the mix for the No. 15 selection.
Pittsburgh is looking to move up to get in the mix for a select group of three-to-four prospects who the Penguins believe will be off the board when they select at No. 20.
A few names being mentioned as targets include forward Emerson Etem and defensemen Derek Forbort, Dylan McIlrath.
Reportedly Columbus (No. 4), Atlanta (No. 8) and Florida (No. 15) are looking to move down. We can confirm that St. Louis is also looking to move down.
