The Pittsburgh Steelers top target has been Titans kick returner/CB Chris Carr for the past few weeks since Carr’s agent announced his client was going to test free agency. The team reached out to Carr as soon as free agency began and the team has scheduled a visit with Carr on Tuesday according to sources. Improving the kick return game has been the Steelers top priority in FA
Carr averaged 28.1 yard per kick return in 08 and would be a great addition to the Steelers. The issue the Steelers are going to have is Carr wants to have the opportunity to be a starter on defense. He visited the Lions today and is also being pursued by the Minnesota Vikings. Titans also want him back.
Nate Washington is currently visiting an AFC South team. Read more for updates on Bryant McFadden, Nate Washington and Byron Leftwich
Nate Washington got into Tennessee around 6:00 p.m. this evening. The two sides are believed to be still meeting. A source says the Titans have now become the front runners to land Washington after Brandon Jones, Michael Clayton are off the market. Washington is seeking $4-$5 million annually and $8-$9 million guaranteed.
Washington visited with the Lions on Friday. Had a scheduled visit with Tampa Bay on Monday but with the Bucs re-signing Michael Clayton, it is unknown if that visit is still on. Washington also has a visit scheduled for Tuesday with the Vikings. Rams also expressed but no visit is planned.
Bryant McFadden visited with the Arizona Cardinals today while he visited with the Lions on Saturday. All indications are McFadden is waiting for the Dolphins to get involved and they still haven’t. Bucs and Patriots have also expressed interest.
I’m hearing mixed opinions now that McFadden may not get the contract that he thought he would. If the market goes down for McFadden, the Steelers will get involved and have options to move some salary. Still that seems unlikely right now.
A source who will be joining my staff in the next couple days, spoke to Bears GM Jerry Angelo and quarterback Byron Leftwich is not on the Bears radar right now.
