ROUND 1
The Pittsburgh Steelers have selected Georgia OLB Jarvis Jones (6-2, 245) with the No. 17 overall selection in the first round of the NFL draft.
Despite an early run on pass rushers with Dion Jordan (Miami Dolphins), Ziggy Ansah (Detroit Lions), and Barkevious Mingo (Cleveland Browns) all going among the first six picks, Jones lasted to No. 17 something the Steelers feared might not happen.
Jones, 23, had 14 1/2 sacks and 24.5 tackles for loss in 2012 for Georgia.
We’ll have full reactions from Steelers headquarters posted soon on the selection.
