STEELERS OFF-SEASON BUZZ
While the Steelers are intrigued about someone like Chargers safety Eric Weddle at the right cost, GM Kevin Colbert made it clear today the Steelers way will continue in not making any splashes in free agency.
“We want to stay the course the best we can,” Colbert said when meeting with reporters. “If there’s a guy from the outside that makes sense, we’ll plug him in. Our big play is keeping our own.”

Colbert sucks
Jessy James looked decent when he got an opportunity. If I recall correctly, the fans even thought he was Heath Miller at times.
If you can sign Weddle, you can go DL like Billings in the 1st round and hope a corner like Fuller drops due to injury concerns to the 2nd or settle for Artie Burns or Eric Murray. I hate WVU, but Karl Joseph is a hell of a Safety.
The thought of adding a beast like Weddle to the secondary gets me chubbed up.
So going front seven or secondary in first two rounds? Going out on a limb there. Wow. That’s genius. Guess it sounds better than just saying they’ll take a defensive player
Weddle makes a lot of sense especially if we can get him around 5 a year. If you think the team has super bowl potential then we need to add a safety in free agency. Cap of course is an issue. I would definitely roll the dice of Villanueva and left beachum walk if that allows us to add a stud safety
Colbert called finding No. 1 tight ends is like finding dinosaurs
I don’t get that comment. I guess finding an above average tight end you plug and play for over a decade is like finding a dinosaur.
It could be true that a Pittsburgh style tight end that blocks and gives you 50-60 catches a year isn’t available every year.
Pittsburgh especially with our receiving corps won’t be looking for a new age type tight end that’s primarily a receiver. Not with 4 good receivers and a back that catches a ton of passes.
