The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed Detroit Lions wide receiver Shaun McDonald (5-10, 184 lbs) to a one year contract. McDonald had 35 receptions for 332 yards and one touchdown in 12 games for Detroit last season.
McDonald’s best season came in 2007 when he had 79 receptions for 946 yards and six touchdowns.
McDonald will compete for the Steelers 3rd and 4th receiver spot on the depth chart.
The Steelers did not make an offer to wide receiver Ashley Lelie
Scouting Report on McDonald
Regarded as an excellent athlete and is a strong route runner. Has above average quickness off the ball which helps him elude jams at the line of scrimmage.
McDonald doesn’t have breakaway speed and his size limits his ability in some areas. He is one of those receivers who does a solid job of finding the soft spots in the middle of the field. Is not a special teams player. Quality depth player to bring into training camp and just two seasons ago had a 79 catch season.
