In the least surprising news of the day, the Pittsburgh Steelers bend somewhat at the 11th hour and have agreed to a reworked contract with defensive end Cam Heyward. Heyward who had threatened to sit out week 1 and has cried about his contract for weeks, receives a reworked deal for 2025 that includes an extra $3.2 million tied to postseason incentives. From one spectrum the Steelers did not give in and rip up the contract and in reality, they just couldn’t. The team at the end of the day, though, still goes against their ways in giving playoff incentives to a non-QB. Heyward can earn a max salary of $18 million this season and time will tell if this was all worth it for Heyward as his reputation has taken a hit and he comes out getting nothing new in actual guaranteed money.
