Trade talks surrounding the Pittsburgh Penguins is heating up in the wake of Wednesday’s 3:00 p.m. deadline.
Trade discussions throughout the past week with the Nashville Predators have gone back and fourth but as of late Saturday evening, league sources indicate the Predators remained in contact with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Bruins and an unconfirmed Eastern Conference team.
Pittsburgh I’m told has pulled Alex Goligoski from any deal for Hamhuis but have discussed two variations of a potential deal.
One scenario centers around Ruslan Fedotenko and a 2nd round draft choice/mid-tier prospect but sources indicate the latest round of talks have revolved around Penguins defenseman Jay McKee with another asset going to Nashville.
Hamhuis, 27, has been Pittsburgh’s top target on their blueline since the Penguins ended their scouting evaluations in late Janauary.
However, acquiring Hamhuis is easier said than done.
*Meanwhile a Blue Jackets source tells me, Raffi Torres has been informed that he could be moved as early as Monday morning.
Several teams have offered a second round pick for the gritty forward, while Pittsburgh has offered a 3rd round pick and a prospect. Pittsburgh has made 3-5 mid tier prospects available in a deal for Torres, including Dustin Jeffrey.
Much more to come
