Agent Joe Linta confirms to me that the Steelers have placed a first round tender on offensive tackle Willie Colon.
If Colon were to be a restricted free agent, the Steelers would retain his rights and any team to sign Colon would have to surrender a first round pick.
However, the tender is pretty much pointless as the CBA expires on Friday and Colon is likely to be an unrestricted free agent, once a new CBA is in place.
The Steelers have not held any contract negotiations with Colon in regards to a long-term deal.
