Volquez lasts just 5 innings, allowing crushing grand slam in the 4th inning
By William DePaoli
Despite not locating his pitches very well, Edinson Volquez cruised through the first three innings but trouble came in the fourth inning. Volquez loaded the bases and left a hanging breaking ball to Brandon Crawford who delivered a grand slam, giving the Giants a commanding 4-0. With the way Madison Bumgarner is pitching, it was a crushing blow to the Pirates. Volquez lasted just five innings, allowing 5 hits, and 5 earned runs. Pittsburgh trails 5-0 in the sixth.
