The Pittsburgh Steelers have acquired 7-time pro bowler CB Jalen Ramsey and TE Jonnu Smith from the Miami Dolphins in a blockbuster deal that will send fading safety Minkah Fitzpatrick back to the Miami Dolphins. The 31-year old Ramsey, a three-time All-pro, has 24 career interceptions, 534 tackles over nine seasons. Smith, 29, had 88 receptions for 884 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2024. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Pittsburgh makes a seismic financial commitment for this year as Ramsey gets a $1.5 million raise with the trade and will make $26.5 Million in 2025, while the team moves on from Fitzpatrick whom himself is also a three-time All-Pro.
Smith, 29, had been locked into a contract dispute with the Dolphins in recent weeks and will receive a [hide] one year, $12 million extension from the Steelers. A fascinating off-season has seen Pittsburgh acquire the likes of QB Aaron Rodgers, WR DK Metcalf and now Ramsey and Smith in the process of also changing the safety room drastically.
