Murray is going to get 10 year 100 million
The Kings pick up Maatta for a 23 year old minor leaguer… both ends of that trade turn into a disaster for the original two teams involved.

Funny when I wanted Malkin and 1st for mcdavid before he was drafted I was seen crazy and now that mcdavid is well established in the league a drooler here wants him. Nice one

It couldn’t have been done, but just imagine fleury was kept and Murray dealt for a Kings ransom. I bet the pens could have gotten Dougie Hamilton+ at the time.
They made the right choice in the moment, especially with the expansion draft. They were losing one of them. I still do not think MAF was the answer. The Pens should have had at least one more cup, but MAF chocked a lot during the playoffs. MM, to me, won two cups to fast and I think that hurt his game and work ethic. I would not be shocked to see him bounce back on a new team.
That’s exactly where I stand with all of that. Would trading MM have brought a big return? Yeah, but there isn’t a GM to ever exist that would have moved a 23yo 2 time cup winning goaltender that you have 3 more cheap years of. It’s hard to imagine though that that amount of early success hasn’t effected his career.
Will be interesting to see if the change of scenery doesn’t fire him back up. We will see
Yea but flower in net you know you’ll make the playoffs you know he will give 60+ games a year murray still hasnt played full season and since flower gone pens had some trouble to get in the playoffs
Yeah, and then playoff MAF comes back and they get bounced. And MAF lost his starting job again.
Trade MM, buy out JJ and then resign him to a 7 yr, $70 million contract. We don’t want him to get away!!!
Hopefully we get a decent return for Matt Murray…
