Did the Penguins come out of their preseason finale, a 3-2 shootout loss to the Buffalo Sabres, in a costly manner?

Sidney Crosby who was expected to play the whole game, did not play after the first period and it wasn’t because of the festivities for Crosby last night in getting his jersey retired by Rimouski.

Crosby blocked a Marco Scandella shot in the defensive zone about seven minutes into the game. Crosby took several shifts after in the first period but in going over the tape, Crosby’s final couple shifts of the game saw him skating gingerly and with no explosiveness.

Bryan Rust would later leave the game in blocking a shot off his hand. Rust appearing to be in serious pain, immediately left the ice in the third.

Mike Sullivan after the game said there will “be more definitive answers,” tomorrow. [/hide]
