Bennett LATEST PENGUINS BUZZ
With an open roster spot following the trade of Eric Tangradi and demotion of Dylan Reese, speculation is ramping up of Beau Bennett taking that roster spot.

Penguins GM Ray Shero added more fuel to the fire, holding a media session minutes ago and claiming that Bennett is at the Consol Energy Center tonight and being checked out by team doctors. Shero was coy on whether Bennett will be staying with the team, but the Penguins are obviously evaluating him for a reason. If Bennett’s healthy checks out, there’s strong indications that Bennett will be officially recalled. “We just want to make sure he’s 100 percent,” Shero said.
However, there are concerns in the organization about not rushing Bennett as you can ruin young forwards who are not ready.
“Beau’s time is coming at some point,” Shero said.
Bennett just returned to the lineup last weekend for Wilkes Barre after missing the last couple weeks.
Meanwhile, Kris Letang and Matt Niskanen are both in the lineup tonight. Dustin Jeffrey and Robert Bortuzzo are healthy scratches.
Notes: Shero said Eric Tangradi did not ask for a trade but claimed that others had passed him up on the depth chart. “He wasn’t in our plans moving forward,” Shero said.
