Do the Boston Bruins have their sights set on a young Penguins defenseman? Plus are the Penguins in the market for a 4th line center? Read more for the latest

According to a source the Boston Bruins have approached the Penguins to gauge trade interest in forward P.J. Axelsson. The Bruins looking to unload Axelsson‚Äôs salary are in the market for a offensive defenseman and recently inquired about Penguins defenseman Danny Richmond. The Bruins are likely to wait to see if Richmond hits the waiver wire. Are the Penguins interested in Axelsson? There has been some rumblings over the past couple days that Ray Shero is looking for a third/fourth line player who could be used as a situational player that can player center and wing. The Penguins don‚Äôt know if Jeff Taffe can consistently get the job done. That is why the Penguins have explored the possibility of Tyler Kennedy playing center. The Pens have been going through scouting reports of players that may get waived. If any appear to be an upgrade over what the team has, they may grab him. A source tells me he’s hearing there is a player in Detroit that has their eye. A trade for a veteran player like Axelsson is more likely to happen at the trade deadline but nonetheless a call from the Bruins was made.
