Exciting 9th inning comeback for the Buccos. I almost pasted out.
I see Sam is still hiding.

I hate any Sheary price tag over $3 million for the next 2-3 years. If he wins the case and it gets over 4, i put him on the block immediately.
Guy was almost a PPG and one of the best 5v5 guys in hockey last year. He doesnt go through what ever he did that hurt his game late and into the playoffs no one is saying this stupid shit. I want it to be closer to 3 than 4 and the fact that its arbitration over 2 years is unlikely anyway but everyone screaming to trade this kid asap all seem to have a similar though process and that process seems slow or broken
10 (11 if you count Rowney) NHL only contracts for wingers. Only 8 positions to play them in. Sprong and Aston-Reese knocking at the door. Yes, I want to trade the 3-4 million dollar winger who I am not completely sure will continue to produce at this level. Spend the money down the middle, defense and in net. Surround the stars with ELC’s. I’d also be ok with trading Hagelin and maybe even Hornqvist if we had a bruising winger coming up. We have to trade from a position of strength to help our weakness…..so if not Sheary, what winger… Read more »
Good call, move the more proven commodity to make space for a guy that will earn his way and another that could play C and has yet to play a second of NHL hockey, simply dusty being simply again.
Who you trading and what is your expected return at 3C for that person.
Are you under the impression that Rowney will be 4C?
Why would we spend money in net? Still peeved your MAF assessment didn’t come to fruition?
In all fairness, I do wish they would have spent more and gotten a better backup. I know that isn’t what you were talking about but it does tie into spending more in net.
Yeah – maybe. It’s just kinda irrelevant. If Niemi nose dives, there’s enough of a goaltending glut that you can always move someone at the deadline to get a guy in here like you did with Garon in 2009. Or if Jarry proves he’s ready ready. Ain’t no thang.
Who am I trading? I’m putting Hagelin in a package, I’ve said that a dozen times already! There are 12 guys on the roster that can play better than him despite not having the wheels. They are still pretty quick however
What does an NHL only contract have to do with anything roster related? That is simply a financial designation that doesn’t even affect the cap if the player isn’t on the NHL roster.
I disagree zero. Sheary was an undated player that was never considered a top prospect which means he was never a name people identify with so he could put up 5 straight 60+ point season and people like Simply Dustin will still question is ability to play and produce because they just don’t understand the game beyond a video game mentality.
While I’m not opposed to moving Sheary in the right deal, it has nothing to do with his contract, because he’s worth $4M. And if he were a UFA instead of RFA, he’d be getting well above that. There’s nothing more asinine that voluntarily giving away cost controlled assets that produce. Let alone a guy that would have eclipsed 70 points if he played the full year. Pretty good production from a 24 year old that had played all of a half season prior to this year. Even more amazing when you consider the 5 on 5 production (which also… Read more »
By the way, for comparison’s sake, Ondrej Palat, another “true winger,” just re-signed for $5.3M over AAV over 5 years. He’s put up the 61 points in a season that Sheary put up last year exactly 1 time in his career. Side note, the year that he did so, he needed an extra 14 games to get there. As if Dusty’s point wasn’t asinine enough already.
He would rather spend that money in net.
Dusty wants 70 point pace for under $3M! Don’t we all….
Any GM with spare change would take Sheary in a heaetbeat for $4 million a year. Sheary does a lot more than put up points and if you really want to get the most out of the aging stars, Sheary’s value only improves.
Like what? Losing puck battle on the boards. And always falling all over the ice .when other players barley touch him?
Glad you aren’t the GM. Your evaluations of players are terrible like your posts. #simplydusty
Totally agree on Connor Sheary $2.5 at best…he is still too young and inexperienced and unproven…good young player though
Sometimes I wonder why I bother posting any data to support my position, when it’s easier just to claim a 25 year old is “too young” and that a year and a half of solid production with two stanley cup rings = inexperience / unproven.
It’s an interesting dynamic, half the fan base has their collective heads thrust deep into their anus lol…. collective anus… which was sams moms nickname in highschool
Anybody you get for Pouliot straight up must really suck.
This too shall paste
that’s pretty funny.
Pass
If there is a 5% chance Pouliot becomes a top 4 d-man, you don’t even consider this trade. Spooner is MUCH weaker defensively than Bonino is. I’d rather have Rowney or Cullen as 3C.

Dallas is the 12th most valuable team worth 500M and net earnings of 20.9MM – Forbes

Tampa is not a valuable franchise per-say but did have net earnings of 3MM” -Me
22 hours ago… good thing sammich found this for us, otherwise none of us would have possibly seen it in the last 22 hours.
Old news. Sad.
Spooner would be a bad move, most of his zone starts are in the offensive end and he’s brutal on faceoffs. Even though the 4th line would be put out a lot in our own end, we’d need another line to do so as well. Do we want that to be Crosby or Malkin? They should be the ones getting the offensive zone starts. Add to that – a lot of his points came on the PP, he’s just not what we need.
The fact that half of his points came from power play time he’s not going to get here is cause for concern, I agree.
Nice pull I agree. While we need to fill the void we still don’t wanna rush and fuck it up lol. Spooners FO% is also trash
If we could get Spooner for Pouliot and a mid round pick, that would be pretty nice.
That’s probably the right answer – he’s not ideal -b ut he’s also young with room to grow – if you could manage to not overpay for him, he can help. That being said, there are other options out there I like a little better (but would also probably cost more).
Kind of where I was coming from. He’s young and has had some success, plus I can’t see him helping this team any less than DP. I wouldn’t give up much for him, but he’s versatile and could fit in our top 9 when injuries occur.
