Christensen and Orpik not going anywhere for now

Just talked to two good sources tonight who have said the Penguins are not looking to move Eric Christensen or Brooks Orpik. Any thing can change but coming into training camp Christensen is expected to have a spot on the top 2 lines as a winger. The team was very happy with the Whitney-Orpik tandem and although two teams inquired about him in the past week the Penguins were not close to trading him.

What about the Regher to Pittsburgh rumors?
The two sides exchanged two offers last week before the Flames decided they weren’t looking to move Regher. It’s believed the Flames were just seeing what they could get for Regher and there were to many obstacles for this trade to go down. Now its a dead subject as Regher signed a 5 yr extension.

Malone 3rd line Center?
The two names who could be moved are Ryan Malone and Jarko Ruutu. The Chicago Blackhawks inquired about Ruutu during draft weekend but no offer was made. The Penguins are not actively trading Ruutu but they don’t envision him with the team following the 07-08 season. At this moment there appears to be no market for Ryan Malone. The offers they have received are not enticing to the Penguins and there are some in organization who believe if the Penguins do not acquire another forward Malone may go into camp as the #3 center. It’s been a topic that has been discussed.

Latest Rumors
No rumor updates. The Penguins have not made any offers to Mike Peca but did speak to his agent this afternoon. I don’t see the Penguins making a offer right now. Bill Guerin turned down a 2 yr – 7 million deal from the NYI tonight.
