The MAC hung tough with some of the heavyweights of college football but in the end big plays and the lack of didn’t provide any upsets. Let’s take a look at the early action of Week 2:
Ohio State 26 Ohio U. 14– Ohio State had their hands full with Ohio University as they might have been looking forward to next weeks game against #1 USC. The game was in doubt until Ray Small returned a punt 69 yards to put OSU up 26-14 with just over 6 minutes remaining. Terrelle Pryor saw limited action while rushing for 38 yards on two carries and did not complete a pass on two attempts.
Michigan 16 Miami (OH) 6– Michigan opened up a 10-0 lead in the first quarter but could not put away Miami (OH) until Brandon Minor went in from 15 yards out with about eight minutes remaining. Coach Rodriquez is still looking for some offense from his QB’s who combined to go 10 of 18 for 103 yards and 1 rushing TD
UConn 12 Temple 9 OT– Temple could not get the win, that they deserved last year, against UConn as the Huskies prevailed in overtime.
Wisconsin 51 Marshall 14 – Marshall raced out to a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter but threw interceptions on their first three second half possessions.
Illinois 47 E. Illinois 21 – This game was contested on the ground and Illinois showed who has the power in this intrastate battle. Juice Williams threw for 124 yards, rushed for 174 yards, accounted for 3 touchdowns but turned the ball over three times. Illinois ran for 417 yards as both teams combined for 90 rushing attempts.
