Alvarez struggles, Pearce homers for AAA Indy
It was a rough night for Pedro Alvarez who went 0-for-4 at the plate with three strikeouts and a walk in the Indians 7-4 win over Columbus.
Alvarez is 1-for-10 with 1 run scored and no extra base hits in his last three games. He is batting .222 in the minors this season…..
Steve Pearce went 1-for-5, hitting a solo home run in the 5th inning. It was his first rehab game with Triple-A Indy….

Rudy Owens (7-6, 5.16) whose had an up and down season, received his 7th win of the season, allowing 5 hits and 2 runs in 5 1/3 innings. Owens struck out 7 and has 15 collected strikeouts in his last 2 starts (9 2/3 innings).

Morris on fire
Reliever Bryan Morris is on fire, allowing 2 hits and 0 runs in 1 1/3 innings in relief against the Erie Seawolves tonight.
Morris has allowed 0 runs in his last 15 innings, allowing just 9 hits and striking out 17. He has shown excellent command, walking just 3 batters during his current shutout streak.
“One of our scouts actually came forward and said our best bullpen acquisition {this season} might be Bryan Morris, ” GM Neal Huntington said on Sunday.
